Venom Ink tattoo clients urged to get blood tests

Public Health Niagara is urging customers of the two Venom Ink tattoo parlors in Niagara to get blood tests immediately. A public health risk was discovered when health officials discovered that unsterilized equipment was being used at both the St. Catharines and Niagara Falls locations.

While they've deemed that the risk to clients of the two parlors is low, Public Health strongly advises that those who may have been affected refrain from activities that could spread infection until a blood test completely rules out the possibility of HIV, hepatitis B and C.

If you think you may have been affected and have any further questions, please call the Infectious Disease Program at 1-888-505-6074 or 905-688-8248 ext. 7330. Office hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. After hours call 905-984-3690.
