Thorold Residents: Get your rain barrels on May 9th

Water costs always seem to skyrocket in the summer. Whether you're filling up the pool, taking showers to cool off or taking care of the lawn and garden, you're almost definitely going to be paying more. While you might not want to use rain water to tackle those first two projects, it's a great substitute for your outdoor tap when it comes to lawn and garden care. But how do you gather all that rain water that would otherwise go in the gutters? Easy: rain barrels.

The City of Thorold is encouraging everyone to come out on May 9th and pick up a rain barrel for only $30. This is an amazing deal, as these things normally start at $100 and go up from there.

You'll be able to pick up your rain barrel at the Thorold Arena on May 9th from 9am 'til noon or until they're sold out, whichever comes first. There's a limit of one barrel per household, and you'll need to provide proof of residency.

For more information, contact Thorold's Public Works department via email at pubworks@thorold.com.

Why is this rain barrel program only available to residents of Thorold? Is there a rain barrel sale for residents of St Catharines?
