Sessions at 73

St. Catharines is a city that has long lived with an artistic identity-crisis. On the one end of the spectrum are the highbrow galleries and organizations. Places like Rodman Hall and the Niagara Symphony Orchestra, that cater to the professional art lover in all of us. At the other end is the downtown arts crowd. Young creative individuals that revel in their portrayal of the "starving artist" while cultivating some of the most sublime art, culture and music you'll find at the local level. Over the next three months, downtown will be playing home to a project that hopes to draw some of one crowd in to see the other.

On January 11th, 73 St. Paul St. will be turned into Sessions at 73, a live performance space for musicians to practice their craft with full access to the public. Anyone walking by with even a passing interest is welcome to come in, have a coffee, and enjoy the some fresh melodies. Other types of events are planned as well;

We feature a program of both conventional and progressive works, including dates with very special artists making rogue appearances in support of this project and its aims. These are headlining talents whose work influences whatever it encounters. We're also gonna be programming intellectual content in the form of public lectures, literary content in the form of spoken word open nights. Stay tuned for details.
