Mel Swart Park needs your help

Mel Swart Lake Gibson Conservation Park, a community based project that kicked off more than a decade ago, needs your help. The committee behind the park, currently made up of 14 volunteers, needs help planting trees and maintaining the park. Recently a good deal of the park, including memorial trees and other property, was damaged by vandals. As such, they need your help more than ever to get things back up to snuff.

In happier news, the park is getting set to debut a new toboggan hill this winter thanks to the donation of grass seeds from Thorold Hardware. Combine that with the pavilion and boardwalk, and the park is starting to become an essential part of the Thorold community. Up next on the big project list? An amphitheatre.

To find out how you can help, call Thorold city council representative Fred Neale at (905) 227-7524.
