Little Creatures Go Big: A Collection of Toy Portraits at the NAC

nactoyshow.jpg

Artist Sandy Middleton loves toys. Artist Sandy Middleton also love cameras. It only seemed logical that she would one day combine these two loves, and now she's bringing this combination to the NAC.

Little Creatures Go Big is an exhibit of Middleton's 5"x5" oak blocks featuring portraits of toys that she's taken on a variety of cameras.

Her inspiration, in her own words;

Perhaps it’s a statement on my childlessness or maybe my incredible immaturity that has brought me to this work …..who knows….one thing I do know I have always loved little things. The tiny Barbie shoes, hangers and miniature suitcases fascinated me more than the dolls themselves. Then again it could be attributed to the summers spent working at Miniature World where I sold tiny things for tiny collections.

The exhibit will be opening at the NAC on August 22nd and will run through September 11th, 2009. For more information, visit the Niagara Artists Centre website.
