Impulse buying a piece of our local history

I just thought it might be fun to share a little story with everyone about the meandering nature of the internet and the wonderful places it can take us.

Yesterday, while searching for a suitable image to use for our post on the St. Catharines retrospective, I stumbled across an image for an old postcard depicting Montebello Park. After doing a little digging I discovered that it was from an eBay auction for a postcard complete with handwritten note and postal processing from 1903. What's more, the auction was still live and only had 15 hours to go!

I may not have made a big deal about it on this site much, but I'm an avid junkie for all things historical in Niagara, and specifically in St. Catharines. But despite my growing knowledge of out past, I've never owned an actual artifact from it. So for $7 after shipping, how could I not?

I'm pleased to announce I was the winning bidder on a little piece of our history. If any of you should come across any finds of your own, let us know in the comments! I'd certainly be happy to showcase any part of our local history you might come across, be it items or photos that relate to our long and storied history.
