How to pay your St. Catharines water bill monthly

Water Works.Gif

Tired of getting a $400 water bill every four months that you just can't get squared away by the due date? While it's not well publicized, the City of St. Catharines actually offers a month-to-month equal billing option to make things a little easier on us.

To sign up for equal billing there are a few things you're going to need to know. First off, it's only available if you're willing to set up your bill for automatic withdrawal. Second, they'll base your monthly payment off of your most recent 12 months of previous billing, so if your water consumption goes up or down drastically from last year it's not going to reflect in your bill any time soon. On your 12th month of billing, someone will come in and read the meter to equalize your consumption for the upcoming year and calculate your new rate.

It's a good alternative for those with stable water usage and permanent residences, but I don't think I can say it's for everyone. If equal water billing is something that would benefit you, you can download the application form here.
