From the Outside Looking in

Living in St. Catharines, it's not uncommon to hear people groan and gripe about how little there is to do here or how the city is falling apart. It's certainly not an opinion that we at the St. Catharines City Guide share (in fact we started this site to combat that very complaint!), but that doesn't make it any less common a complaint amongst our citizenry. That's why it's sometimes nice to get a fresh perspective on what our community has to offer.

A community-based effort to revitalize their own city of Windsor Ontario, The Broken City Lab recently paid a visit to our little city of St. Catharines. Rather than looking at our downtown core with the jaded eyes of a local, their "Field Report" talked about their impressions of our area and the things that Windsor could learn from us. Here's a few highlights;

"Above is one of many, many banners on streetlight poles, highlighting a number of community members. It would seem that some iteration of this in Windsor would be a no-brainer."

"It was encouraging to find out though that not only does Brock have an 8-month bus pass built into its tuition, but that students think it’s the best $150 they could possibly spend."
