Fremont Books Closing Sale

fremontbooksup.jpg

Formerly A Novel Idea (and before that, The Bookworm), Fremont Books will be forced to close its doors in the near future as the building it resides in has been expropriated by the city to develop the new performing arts centre. While this is certainly a sad day for Fremont Books, it's a tremendous day for avid readers looking to save a bundle.

The quick and easy side of the sale means that all paperbacks are only $1. The hard and dirty part? You can go upstair to their warehouse and fill a box of books for only $5. We're talking big, banana crate box. There are more than a million books up there. We strongly advise you book a solid 4-8 hour block of time to start hunting. Overwhelming doesn't begin to describe the experience we felt. The picture you see above, blurry though it may be, is only a fraction of what we saw on their upper level.

Fremont Books may decide to relocate when the building is demolished, so this doesn't even have to be that sad of a story. The more we go down and spend, the more likely they can afford the move. Get down their with a fistful of fives and go crazy!

Well, it appears that some cities are more poorly managed than Hamilton, impossible though that once seemed. They not only want to evict a private business owner, they also want to demolish a historic building. Classy(sarcasm implicit here)! Maybe they can get the by-law to issue a parking ticket to the wrecking ball operator's car while he's at work! That would be like them.
I love your store and St. Paul Street in general. It's a shame that your city is so poorly managed.
