Flickr Niagara: Vanishing Murals

Flickr veteran Bill Strong (featured once before in our Flickr Niagara segments) snapped this shot of one of my favourite murals on King St. At one point, Welland was nearly famous for it's murals. They were commissioned by the city back in 1986, and artists from all across Canada came to participate. Now, as is the case with the one pictured above, they've begun to disappear with the passage of time.

This one was always a personal favourite, and it broke my heart when it was taken down. But buildings renovate, times change, and art sometimes falls to the wayside. Big thanks to Bill Strong for capturing this one before it disappeared for good.
