Flickr Niagara: Snowy Falls

fallswinter.jpg

When it gets really cold, with snow and ice everywhere, few sights are prettier to the naked eye that an iced over Niagara Falls. It's been a few years since we've seen the Falls completely freeze over. This photo from 2007 is of a partially snowed-over American Falls, and was taken by flickr user DrFever.

Back at the turn of the century, the falls would freeze over every year, and the river just below it would be open to the public for ice skating and tobogganing. Sounds terrifying nowadays, doesn't it?
