ebayNiagara: NS&T Transit Pass

Public transportation in St. Catharines is far from a recent phenomenon. As a matter of fact, Niagara has a rich and storied history with shuttling folks around by the carload. Case in point: the Niagara, St. Catharines and Toronto Railway.

Despite having the name Toronto in the title, the NS&T never really got all that far from Niagara. Acting as a means of transportation between St. Catharines, Thorold, and Port Dalhousie, the NS&T opened in 1899 as the first electrified inter-urban streetcar operation in the world. As years went on, buses were added to the mix, and by 1960 the streetcar was completely phased out.

Pictured above is an annual pass for riding the NS&T from the year 1914. As of this writing, the bidding for this item is up to $37.89 USD. Definitely a treasure for any local collectors, and something I'd certainly love to have framed on my wall. Bidding ends shortly. Click here to check it out.
